The Pension Fund has signed an agreement with the Russian Search Movement to help obtain information about the fate of soldiers and officers who died of injuries and went missing during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The joint projects will aim to commemorate heroes of war and to strengthen the national and patriotic spirit of the peoples of Russia.

Besides exercising their main function of the assignment of pensions and social benefits, Fund specialists will be assisting activists of the Russian Search Movement in accessing files of WWII veterans, their children, widows and mothers to help the families find out what happened to their near and dear. Besides, the sides will organize joint education projects and disseminate information.

The interaction is particularly important for the Pension Fund, as documents from the PFR archives may expand the knowledge about national history, PFR Board Deputy Chairman Yevgeny Pisarevsky said. “Cooperation will help preserve our history and pass it on to next generations,” he said.

“The Russian Search Movement focuses on the search for, identification and burial of Soviet soldiers. For its part, the Pension Fund has a large amount of archived information that can help establish the fate of WWII veterans. “This is about the search for and preservation of documents connected to WWII heroes and the history of their heroic deeds. The pension files contain unique information that can help us learn about the fate of many heroes,” Russian Search Movement Executive Secretary Yelena Tsunayeva said.
